House Call

After a good night's sleep Larentia went to Rukongai. A member of a minor noble family requested medical attention for his daughter. Going from the discription Larentia thought the poor girl had been poisoned, but it could be possible she was just ill. She had filled her backpack with some antidotes for common diseases, wich she could've caught. Larentia arrived at the big manor the family lived in. A man was waiting for her outside.

"Judging from your looks, I guess you're our doctor." The man said calmly with a bit of hostility in his voice. Larentia knew she wasn't exactly impressive for a shinigami and she was used to people treating her demeaning. "Yes I am," She answered and nodded. "Could you please show me to the patient?" She asked calmly, trying not to be bothered by his tone.

"Follow me." He said and opened the gate. "I honestly hope you can do something about her. It would break the hearts of the family if she wouldn't survive." He continued while walking towards the room of the girl. She thought that he was being a bit too dramatic, from the description that she got the girl didn't sound that ill. But she wasn't going to call him out for it, he probably didn't belong to the family, but was probably head of the servants. Pissing someone of like him wasn't going to help the patient.

She kept quiet for the rest of the walk, while the man tried to make small talk. The garden of the house was beautiful. She would've loved a garden like this, she would even settle for one that was one fifth of this size. Larentia was pretty sure a family like this had some great fish in their small rivers too. Her childhood was pretty simple, her parents had jobs and a small house, but no garden. "Here we are." The man interrupted her train of thoughts and opened the doors to the girls room.

The girl was awake, but she didn't look that great. Her face was red and a bit swollen and she looked extremely tired. It's worse then they told me. She though. "Could you please close the door?" The girl asked with tiny voice. She walked to the girl while the man closed the door.

"I'm Larentia Iesada, I am here to help you." She said and carefully laid her hand on the girls forehead. Her head was burning and from up close she could see the dark circles around her eyes. "How long was it since they called for some help?" Larentia asked the servant. "About two days, I recall."

"Did she have a rashes?" Larentia continued to ask. She hoped that the answer would be no, or else it would be bad. She brushed some hair from the girls forehead, but in stead of staying there it slowly fell on the pillow. "I think she did, but I'm not sure." The man answered nervously, all of the hostility gone from his voice. "I think I know what it is," Larentia said with a sad smile. "Mercury."

The man blinked a couple of times, "I-is that bad?" He asked concerned. Larentia nodded and began to remove the blankets from the girl. She looked extremely tired, but wasn't able to sleep. "Yes, it's good the family asked for someone to come." Larentia had to concentrate in order to remove the Mercury, but first she wanted the girl to get some rest. She placed her hands of the girls temples, "Chiyudo #1, Numbing Touch."

The girl slipped in to unconsciousness and Larentia hoped she would be better when it would cease to work. "I'm going to extract he poison, it may take a while." She told the man and placed her hands above the girls abdomen. She hardly ever used this technique, but she had no choice but to use it now. "White honor, red blood, black corruption. Open your hara and show us the purity. Chiyudo #47 Black Gut."

The girl was small, even for her age and the mercury had spread far into her body. This was indeed going to take a few hours, even if she had practised a lot before. I wish I did... She sighed and then fully concentrated on the orb before her. The mercury leaking out of the body was shiny and didn't look harmful in the least. I wonder how she got it...

An hour into the treatment, the girl woke up. First, she looked a bit confused and scared and suddenly started to scream on the top of her lungs. Startled Larentia dispelled her kido and tried to calm her down. She hardly had any experience with children, much less screaming children. "I'm here to help you! Don't worry!" She screamed back while trying to push the girl down.

The servant, woke up from his quick nap and rushed towards them. "Please calm down miss, she is only here to make you better!" He said and pulled the girl in for a hug. Larentia just sat there, a bit unconformable and waited until the girl was calm again. With a tiny voice the girl apologized to her and Larentia started to concentrate her reiatsu.

"White honor, red blood, black corruption." She started, "Open your hara and show us the purity. Chiyudo #47 Black Gut." Most of the mercury was already gone form her body, but in order to make sure she would stay healthy, all of it had to be removed. It was harder now that the girl was concious and even small movements annoyed Larentia in her treatment.

After about an half hour, Larentia was sure all of the mercury was gone. "It would be smart to keep her on bed rest of at least another day," Larentia started. "If anything else happens please do contact us, I'm sure there is no permanent damage." The servant thanked her, but the girl didn't look too happy about another day in bed. He led her out of the building and thanked her again, before Larentia left.
